Daily IELTS Answer: Rubbish & Litter (Band 7.0 – Part 1)
1. How do you feel when you see litter in the streets?
I feel unhappy because it (no ‘s’) means that some people are irresponsible, they throw the rubbish everywhere and it makes the environment dirty. It makes me feel angry and a little bit disappointed because it looks like they are uneducated and they don’t care about it.
- Vocab: uneducated (adj.) – unintelligent or uninformed.
2. Do you always try to recycle paper and plastic?
Yes I recycle paper and plastic . I will wash the plastic and then I will take it to the recycling bins which is in my building. I will separate (v.) plastic, glass, metal and paper and they have different bins for each category.
- Vocab: A lot of people separate (v.) their recycling / garbage into different materials (paper,glass, plastic)
3. Why do people litter in public places?
I really don’t know why because I won’t do that and there a lots of rubbish bins in HK. I think they just feel [it’s more convenient to throw] rubbish everywhere and they don’t care about the environment and also they have someone (else) to clean it because the government employs street cleaners.
- Pattern: they just feel [it’s easier + to throw] rubbish in the streets
- They feel it’s + comparative adjective + to verb something
- They feel it’s + faster to take the train to China than drive.
- They feel it’s + cheaper to buy something online that in a store.
4. Would you like to help other people to keep your neighbourhood clean ?
Of course when I was young and I lived in public housing sometimes the corridor had litter or dirty water, we helped to clean it up, and not wait for the cleaner to take it away.
