Why do some people learn languages so quickly?

“I think that’s down to their [natural talent] and the passion they have for learning new languages. Or maybe, they need to learn and they are motivated and the situation forces them to do it, for example, if they go to work or study in a new country, then they have no choice. You must have [passion for] the language you choose to learn and you have to [learn it by heart], and that will help you learn faster if you have motivation.”

Do you think learning grammar is important?

“I think grammar is important, you should learn the basic grammar, that will help you speak English properly, but I think that conversation is also important, you need to practice with native speakers to get familiar with the vocabulary or [slang words] that you can’t learn from books. So I think it’s important to have [a mix of both].
