IELTS Speaking Part 2 & 3

Part 2 & 3 – Something that helps you study – (Jan ~ August 2024)

Part 2 –

60 seconds to prepare 📝
2 minutes to answer 🗣️

  • Describe something that helps you study or work better
    You can say:
    – what it is
    – how you found out about it
    – how often you use it
    – and how it helps you work / study better

One thing that significantly enhances my study and work efficiency is a digital app called ‘Focus Time’. It’s a time management application based on the Pomodoro Technique, which is a popular method for increasing productivity.

I discovered ‘Focus Time’ through a friend during one of our university study sessions. He was using it to divide his study time into focused intervals, followed by short breaks. Seeing him work so efficiently piqued my curiosity, and I decided to give it a try.

Now, I use this app almost every day, particularly when I’m tackling extensive study materials or working on challenging projects. For each study or work session, I set the timer in the app for 25 minutes of concentrated effort. After that, I take a 5-minute break to stretch, grab a drink, or just rest my eyes and mind.

This method helps me tremendously. The focused time intervals allow me to concentrate deeply on the task at hand without distractions. The short breaks in between are crucial for maintaining my mental well-being. They provide a moment to relax and recharge, ensuring that I don’t feel overwhelmed or exhausted. This balance keeps me more engaged and productive throughout the day.

Additionally, ‘Focus Time’ has a feature that tracks my overall time spent on tasks, which helps me understand my work patterns better. This insight allows me to plan my days more effectively and ensure that I’m allocating enough time to each of my responsibilities.

Overall, using ‘Focus Time’ has been a game-changer in my daily routine. It has not only improved my productivity but also helped me develop better time management skills and a healthier approach to work and study.
