Part 2 & 3 – An unusual holiday or event – (Jan ~ August 2024)

2 minutes to answer 🗣️

  • Describe an unusual event, holiday or trip you experienced
    You can say:
    – when it was
    – where it was
    – what happened at the event / on the trip
    – and why you thought it was unusual

Last year, during the summer, I had the chance to experience a very unusual holiday. It was in a small village in the mountains, far from the usual tourist spots. The event was a local festival, unknown to most people outside the village. It happens once every five years and involves a series of ancient rituals and celebrations that have been preserved over centuries.

During the festival, the entire village transformed. People wore traditional costumes, and there were various performances of folk music and dance that I had never seen before. One of the most remarkable things was the midnight fire dance, where dancers leaped over bonfires in a daring display of skill and bravery.

What made this vacation unusual was not just the festival itself, but the way it completely immersed me in a different culture and time. It felt like stepping into a different world, one where modern life hadn’t touched the deep-rooted traditions of the village. This experience was unique because it was so authentic and untouched by the typical commercial tourism, offering a glimpse into a way of life that is rarely seen by outsiders.
