IELTS Speaking Part 2 & 3

Part 2 & 3 – A Story – (Sept. ~ April 2023)

Part 2 –

60 seconds to prepare 📝
2 minutes to answer 🗣️

  • Describe a story you’ve heard
    You can say:
    – where you were
    – what the story was about
    – who/what told you the story
    – and say what you thought about it

I was at a family gathering and my uncle told us a story about his experience in a foreign country. He was travelling alone and decided to take a bus to a popular tourist destination. However, he didn’t speak the language and was not familiar with the bus route. He got off the bus at what he thought was his stop, but quickly realized he was lost.

He wandered around for a while until he stumbled upon a small restaurant. Despite the language barrier, he managed to order some food and sat down to eat. Suddenly, the owner of the restaurant approached him and started speaking to him in broken English. My uncle explained his situation and the owner offered to help him find his way.

The owner closed the restaurant and took my uncle on his motorbike to the tourist destination he was trying to get to. Along the way, they chatted and my uncle learned a lot about the local culture. He made it to his destination thanks to the kindness of a stranger.

I thought this story was heartwarming and it reminded me that there are still good people in the world who are willing to help others, even if they are strangers.
