IELTS Speaking Part 2 & 3

Part 2 & 3- A popular person – (May ~ Dec 2023)

Part 2 –

60 seconds to prepare 📝
2 minutes to answer 🗣️

  • Describe a popular person
    You can say:
    – who the person is
    – what they do
    – how you know them
    – and say why they are popular

One popular person that I know is my friend John, who is a professional athlete. He plays basketball for our local team and is very well-known in our community. I met John through a mutual friend several years ago and have watched him rise to become one of the top players in our region.

John is popular for a number of reasons. First and foremost, he is an incredibly talented athlete with a unique playing style that makes him stand out on the court. He also has a great personality and is well-liked by his teammates and fans alike. He’s always willing to take time to talk to people and sign autographs after games.

I think another reason John is popular is that he’s a role model for young people in our community. He’s a hard worker, very disciplined and always stays positive, even in the face of adversity. Seeing him achieve his goals and pursue his dreams has been really inspiring for a lot of kids in our area.
