Part 2 –
60 seconds to prepare 📝
2 minutes to answer 🗣️
I remember having a disagreement with a coworker a few months ago. We were both working on a project together, and we had different opinions on how to approach a particular task.
The disagreement happened in our office during a meeting. I suggested one approach to the task, and my coworker suggested another. We both felt strongly about our ideas and we couldn’t seem to come to a consensus.
The disagreement became more heated as we continued to discuss the issue. We were interrupting each other and not really listening to what the other person was saying. It was frustrating and I could feel my stress level rising.
After a few minutes of this, our supervisor stepped in and asked us to take a break. She suggested that we both take some time to think about the situation and come back with a more level-headed approach.
We both took her advice and took some time to calm down and think about the situation from the other person’s perspective. When we reconvened, we were both more willing to listen to each other and we were able to come to a compromise.
In the end, the disagreement helped us to understand each other’s work styles better, and we were able to work more effectively together on the project. I learned that sometimes disagreements can be productive if they are approached in a calm and respectful way.
