IELTS Speaking Part 2 & 3

Part 2 & 3 – A delayed journey – (Jan ~ August 2024)

Part 2 –

  • Describe a journey or trip what was delayed
    You can say:
    – when it happened
    – where it happened
    – why you were delayed
    – and if you reached your destination

My most memorable delayed journey happened last summer. It was in July, and I was traveling from New York to Paris. The excitement of visiting the City of Lights for the first time was palpable.

The delay occurred at John F. Kennedy International Airport. I arrived well in time for my flight, but soon found out that it had been delayed due to a major storm over the Atlantic. The initial delay was for two hours, but it kept extending.

As hours passed, the departure lounge became increasingly crowded and restless. Travelers were anxious, and airport staff were doing their best to accommodate everyone. The uncertainty was challenging, but I tried to remain calm and used the time to read a book I had been meaning to finish.

Eventually, after a six-hour delay, we boarded the flight. The journey, although longer than expected, was smooth. Upon landing in Paris, the relief was immense. Despite the significant delay, I reached my destination, and the beauty and charm of Paris made up for the initial inconvenience.
