IELTS Speaking Test Part 1

Part 1 – Noise – (Sept – April 2024)

Part 1 –

#1 – Do you live in a noisy area?

Yes, I live in a fairly noisy area, with sounds of traffic, people talking, and other urban noises being common.

#2 – (If yes) Does being in a noisy place bother you?

Yes, being in a noisy place can sometimes bother me, especially if it’s difficult to concentrate or relax. However, I’ve learned to adapt and tune out some of the noise over time.

#3 – Are there any specific noises that annoy you?

I’m particularly sensitive to high-pitched or repetitive sounds, like car alarms or construction noise. I also find it difficult to concentrate with loud music or conversations happening nearby.

#4 – Is it usually louder in the countryside or in the city in your country?

Generally speaking, cities tend to be louder than the countryside in my country, due to the higher density of people and activity in urban areas.

#5 – Do you think cities are getting noisier these days?

Yes, I do think cities are getting noisier these days, with increased traffic, construction, and other urban development contributing to higher levels of noise pollution in many areas.

#6 – What do you do to escape noisy places?

When I need to escape noisy places, I like to go for a walk in a quiet park or natural area, or listen to calming music or white noise with headphones. I also find that meditation or mindfulness practices can be helpful for managing stress and anxiety in noisy environments.
