Vocabulary:

Nouns:
  • A lack of – the state of being without or not having enough of something.
  • Personal space – the physical space immediately surrounding someone, into which encroachment can feel threatening or uncomfortable.
    “he was invading her personal space”
  • Rush hour – a time during each day when traffic is at its heaviest.
  • Petty theft – a type of theft crime that is based on the low value of the stolen property.
  • Tourist hot spots – places or locations popular with tourists or sightseers
  • Pick pocketing – steal from the pockets of (someone).
    “I think someone pickpocketed me in Brighton on my way to the station”
  • Your belongings – the things that you own, especially things that are small enough to be carried.
Verbs:
  • spot – see, notice, or recognize (someone or something) that is difficult to detect or that one is searching for.
    “Andrew spotted the advert in the paper”
  • blend in – to look or seem the same as surrounding people or things and therefore not be easily noticeable.
    “We tried to blend into the crowd”
Adjectives:
  • Claustrophobic – a feeling associated with people who have an extreme or irrational fear of confined places.
    “the small stuffy room had begun to make him claustrophobic”
Phrases:
  • The first thing that comes to mind is…
