Vocabulary:

Nouns: 

• modern art – art of a style marked by a significant departure from traditional styles and values, in particular that created between the late 19th and the late 20th centuries.
  “she had a strong interest in modern art”
• performing arts – forms of creative activity that are performed in front of an audience, such as drama, music, and dance.
  “a centre for the performing arts”
• trend – a general direction in which something is developing or changing.
  “an upward trend in sales and profit margins”
• installations – an art exhibit constructed within a gallery.
  “a video installation”
• exhibits – public display (a work of art or item of interest) in an art gallery or museum or at a trade fair.
  “only one sculpture was exhibited in the artist’s lifetime”

Verbs: 

• show up – arrive, appear
• debate – discuss or politely argue about a topic
• symbolises – be a symbol of
• pick – choose, select
