Daily IELTS Answer: Hair & Hairstyles – (Band 7.5 – Part 1)
1. How often do you get a haircut?
Now I only really get my hair done once a year usually in September as a celebration of my birthday. I’ve just had it done earlier this month, and so far I’m quite satisfied with it because I got it permed, and I like it looking wavy.
- Collocation: Get my hair done – go to a salon and have my haircut by a professional
- Adjective: wavy – longer, flowing curves of hair
2. Have you ever had a haircut that you didn’t like?
Absolutely, in secondary school, so I got a very short and neat hair style which made me look absolutely boyish and I hated it so much that I swore I would never ever have it again.
- Adjective: boyish – suitable for a boy, looking like a boy
- Verb: I swore (past tense) – I promised
3. Would you ever like to change (dye) your hair colour?
I would and actually I’ve done it several times, so the last time I had my hair dyed, it was a kind of [a wineish dark red]. I loved it, the only problem was that the colour faded away quickly, so maybe next time if something really important is coming up, I’ll have it dyed again.
- Phrase: It’s kind of a dark blue colour // It’s kind of a blood red colour
- Verb: fade – lose colour over time, become less vibrant or vivid
