Daily IELTS Answers – Clothes (Band 6.5)

Where do people in Egypt normally buy clothes?

I think people in Egypt, buy their clothes from traditional shops. This is because they have cheapest prices and there is a lot of selection. What kinds of clothes should people wear at work?

“I think it depends on the type of work that people are doing, for example a coach on a field should not wear a suit because he needs to run around swiftly, so he needs to be loose and comfortable. In another situation, let’s say in a business meeting where you should meet your customers you should appear in a way that represents your company, and so in such a situation you should not wears shorts I believe wearing clothes at work depends on what the type of work is.”
+Vocab: shorts – shoes – socks – jeans – trousers (UK) – pants (USA)

What kinds of clothes do people wear after work?

“I think people usually wear their pajamas at home. At home you don’t need to be that formal, you need to be casual, when you are at home you may go to the kitchen to prepare supper after work, so doing this in work clothes might be [uncomfortable] for some people. Also doing some household activities requires a lot of freedom or flexibility.”
