1. Why is that for some people achievements of their favorite sports teams is important?
“Well, even though I’m a fan of baseball and I watch professional baseball games in Taiwan. So to be honest, I never thought about it, it’s just a spontaneous reaction when see the team I support win the game – I want to cheer and yell, there is so much happiness (uncount.) pouring out of us. That’s probably because people are associated with the team they support, so feel like they also part of the success and in the case, when you are successful or when have done a great job you want to celebrate. Another reason might be that people are affected by the atmosphere, because when the team I support wins the game in the stadium everyone is cheering and the atmosphere is fantastic, you can’t let yourself not be part of it. Those are 3 reasons why people celebrate for the team they support and why it’s important.”

2. Are sports people more satisfied when they win in a team or as an individual?
“To be perfectly honest, I can’t remember if there are any situations when I have won a sports game myself, but I was a baseball player when I was at university and every time when we won a game, the feeling was amazing. But in my personal experience, compared to one of my roommates who plays table tennis, let’s say sometimes we won games in the same week and I found myself much happier compared to him , maybe it’s because the bond and feeling in a team is more stronger and if I would apply my personal experience to the situation, I would say that team sports players would feel happier compared to individual players.”

3. How do people celebrate special occasions in your country?
“Well there are many ways people celebrate their special days, the most common way is to go to a fancy restaurant first, then they would go to a karaoke bar and drink a lot of beer or whiskey there, then they sing the whole night and then maybe they’re not be able to go home so they would be sent to a motel by their colleagues. Another way that people celebrate is they take a vacation, so after some of my colleagues finish a project, they take a long vacation to Japan or the Philippines or Vietnam. Those are just the countries near Taiwan. So those are two ways people celebrate in TW.”
