“I used to give an advice to my friend, he’s a peer in my work, he’s at the same level as me in my work. It was about his poor performance and actually, he had poor performance at the firm. He couldn’t finish his work on time so his subordinate was complaining a lot at the time, because she wasn’t (being) coached, so his manager was complaining about his performance. So then I advised him to change because not everyone told him that he had a problem, because we had this 1-on-1 informal chat between us, then he realised that his co-workers at the office didn’t like him. I was quite hard on him, but it helped him become more aware of the situation, so in the future, if I find this kind of thing happens in the future, I will try to rephrase it in a way that can be a little more gentle.”
