“I’m gonna talk about my dad who is a physician, I want to tell you that he travels a lot to attend different meetings – scientific meetings in different places around the world. He usually travels by plane, he travels to different destinations to some countries that he can’t get to without planes. He likes this kind of transport so much because it’s cheap, it provides a lot of comfort and he is served during his travels. I want to tell you that he traveled last year to NYC to attend a very important meeting there, he traveled on an international flight on an AirBus or Boeing, with a very cheap ticket, he paid only $500 for the ticket and I think it’s quite cheap, because as you know there are a lot of airplanes facilities which allow people to travel ...” [2:00]
- Grammar Issue: Many native Arabic speakers use the Present Continuous when it’s not necessary.
- For example: “He is travelling a lot to attend meetings.” isn’t the correct use of the Present Continuous. It should be the Present Simple: “He travels a lot to attend meetings.” This is because the Present Simple describes frequent behaviour, routines and habits, without references any specific time frame.
- Collocation: you can provide comfort for someone
