Is handwriting still important these days?

“Yes definitely, because nowadays, you should be prepared for any situation, like if you’re writing a letter or a report. It’s still important in your profession. It’s still at work. So I think having tidy handwriting is important in your life. I write notes every day on the patients’ charts. Also sometimes I need to write a letter to another doctor the family’s patients, so it’s essential for me to have tidy handwriting.”

Will computers replace it in the future?

“Probably, everyone nowadays has their own computers, and there are some gadgets like phones, so it’s common to see everyone using text messages to communicate with each other, whereas I think handwriting is still essential for and you need to use it on a daily basis, like if you’re a doctor, writing receipts for your patients. Even lawyers and professors need their handwriting to write on boards, or to write a letter to a customer or student.”

What impression does a person’s handwriting give?

“I think it reflects your personality and responsibility, because if you have good handwriting, or [tidy handwriting], it shows to others that you are organised and that you take care of others, and also that you worry about [what you have written].”

+ Collocation: tidy handwriting – “Doctors should have tidy handwriting.”
+ Vocab – Present Perfect: ‘write – wrote – written’ – “What you have written”
