What kinds of vegetables are popular in Italy?

“Several types of vegetables depending on what you have to cook, like potatoes, especially cooked in the oven (baked) with chicken is very important or when you go out with your friends eating a hamburger, you need potatoes (french fries). Tomatoes too, because we make the sauce with pasta. Another one could be zucchini especially for making pizza. I think they are the most important used ones, since we cook with a lot more vegetables.”

What vegetables do people like to grow?

“There are two most chosen things to grow in our gardens, the first is pepper, because we can use it for everything. on meat, pasta, so people like the taste of hot / spicy peppers especially. And of course, tomatoes to make a salad, a sauce, a pizza and these are the ones. Also, families who have a big garden grow those in the garden. Most of the families that have a garden used to grow hot peppers or tomatoes in their garden.”
+Collocation: goes with – something always works well / tastes good / looks good with another thing – “Peppers go with meat, pasta and pizza. So they’re very popular.”

How do people feel when they eat their own veg?

“Surely they feel safer because they think it has grown in their garden, so they were the ones keeping an eye on the growth of those vegetables, but when you go to a supermarket, it hasn’t grown in your own garden, so it’s not as safe, and not as natural either.”
+Grammar: passive voice – it has grown – “They think it has grown in their garden, instead of a supermarket.”
+Pattern: as (adjective)- “The food is not as nice as last night.” – “The ingredients are not as fresh in the supermarket.”
